wpid i melt with you slice Red Band Trailer for I MELT WITH YOU Starring Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, and Jeremy Piven

The red band trailer for the drama I Melt With You has gone online. The film centers on four lifelong friends (Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Jeremy Piven, and Christian McKay) that gather for their annual get-together in Big Sur, only to be confronted by their own shortcomings in life and a past secret. The trailer is rather strange. It almost seems a bit like St. Elmo’s Fire meets Requiem for a Dream. It features lots of drugs and close-ups and music, then there’s that secret. I don’t know what it is, but for some reason I need to know. The performances look intense, with some non-Ari shouting from Piven, so expect plenty of drama. I’m a bit biased here, given my heterosexual man-crush on Lowe, but it looks like a weird little flick and my interest is piqued.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Directed by Mark Pellington, the film will be available on Magnolia On-Demand on November 4th, followed by a theatrical release on December 9th.

Here’s the trailer:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Richard (Thomas Jane), Ron (Jeremy Piven), Jonathan (Rob Lowe) and Tim (Christian McKay) are old college friends that gather annually for a week in Big Sur to celebrate their friendship and catch-up on each other’s lives. They seem like typical men in their forties – all with careers, families, and enormous responsibilities – but like most people there is a lot more beneath the surface.

As the week progresses, they go down the rabbit hole of excess as mountains of drugs are consumed to a blaring rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack.  Parties with much younger women spin out of control. Exhausted and run ragged, they bare their souls to one another revealing the disillusionment with their lives.  As the truth emerges, the reunion takes a much darker turn when a promise from their past is brought to light.  From director Mark Pellington, I MELT WITH YOU is a visually dazzling, wild and wooly trip deep into the male psyche, driven by four amazingly committed and profound performances.

wpid contraband movie image slice 01 New Trailer and Images for CONTRABAND Starring Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, and Giovanni Ribisi

The trailer for Contraband has gone online and I have no idea what differentiates it from other Mark Wahlberg crime movies.  He’s either a cop or a good-guy criminal and in this movie he’s the latter.  He plays a former smuggler who’s called back into the game when his brother-in-law (X-Men: First Class‘ Caleb Landry Jones) steals from the wrong gangster (Giovanni Ribisi with a bizarre, distracting accent).  Wahlberg then puts together a team of crooks (including characters played by Ben Foster and Lukas Haas) and it looks a little like The Italian Job with smuggling and cool duct tape masks.  Hopefully, the film will have something to make it stand apart from other movies where Wahlberg plays a frantic, hard-nosed character.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and a number of new images.  The film also stars Kate Beckinsale, J.K. Simmons, and Diego Luna.  Contraband opens January 13, 2012.

wpid walking dead slice 01 New Trailer for THE WALKING DEAD Season Two

We just learned about an interesting new series of webisodes calling back to the beginning of the first season of The Walking Dead, but now we have a full-fledged trailer for the impending second season set to debut on Sunday, October 16th at 9/8c with a 90-minute season premiere. About half the footage in this new trailer showed up in the extended trailer from overseas that we featured a little while back, but there’s still some great new clips in the trailer which show this season might see the group of survivors going their own way. See for yourself after the jump.

wpid extremely loud and incredibly close poster slice First Trailer and Poster for EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jonathan Safran Foer.  The movie centers on Oskar, a boy who is convinced his father, who died in the 9/11 attacks, hid a final message somewhere in the city: “Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father’s closet.”  Thomas Horn, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Max Von Sydow, Viola Davis, John Goodman, Jeffrey Wright, and James Gandolfini star in the film directed by Stephen Daldry (The Reader).  Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close opens in limited release on December 25, and expands wide on January 20, 2012.  Watch the trailer after the jump.

The trailer uses U2′s “Where the Streets Have No Name” to make us feel emotions, which pretty much confirms my relationship with this movie.  I appreciate the talent and skill of U2 and understand why they’re so popular, but I’m not a U2 fan.  Likewise, Extremely Loud looks to have this broad, uplifting appeal—but it hasn’t connected with me at all.

I mean, I won’t judge too early.  Hanks and Bullock are the dream team of amiability, and Horn looks solid in this footage.  But with this kind of earnest drama, I’m a tough sell.  How does it strike you?

Official synopsis:

Oskar (Thomas Horn) is convinced that his father (Tom Hanks), who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, has left a final message for him hidden somewhere in the city. Feeling disconnected from his grieving mother (Sandra Bullock) and driven by a relentlessly active mind that refuses to believe in things that can’t be observed, Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father’s closet. His journey through the five boroughs takes him beyond his own loss to a greater understanding of the observable world around him.

wpid south park slice Trailer for SOUTH PARK Documentary 6 DAYS TO AIR Premiering on October 9th

It’s no secret that a lot of work goes into an episode of an animated series, but when it comes to Comedy Central’s long-running series South Park, you might be shocked to learn that each episodes is completed in just under one week. This explains how the series from longtime collaborator Trey Parker and Matt Stone remains so topical and relevant every single week, but it also means that when South Park is in production, the pressure is on to deliver, just like an episode of Saturday Night Live. Perhaps that explains why someone like SNL cast member Bill Hader is on the writing staff and makes several appearances in this promising new documentary 6 Days to Air which will premiere on Comedy Central on October 9th.

Despite the obvious stress of putting together a half-hour animated comedy in just a week, Parker and Stone seem to be enjoying themselves immensely and always make time to joke around. Other highlights include a professional sounding conversation about characters shitting into each other’s mouths and someone farting into the PA system at the South Park offices. The new season of South Park premieres October 5th at 10/9c, but see the trailer for what looks to be an eye-opening look behind-the-scenes of the series after the jump.

wpid paranormal activity 3 image slice New Trailer for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3; Cities Can Tweet to See the Film Before it Opens

A new trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 has been released, and it looks as though all hell breaks loose. The third entry in the franchise is a prequel to the first two films, and attempts to connect everything together as it shows protagonist Katie’s younger years. This trailer seems to reveal a good chunk of the movie to audiences, and the gags seem much more overt and fake than the sinister and understated ones of the first film. It also looks like a lot of this film takes place during the daytime, which is not scary because everyone knows that creepy things only throw people around at nighttime.

Additionally, Paramount is trying to recapture the “demand the film” craze that made the first film such a big hit in theaters. This time, the film will open in 20 cities on October 18th, three days before it opens nationwide. The winning cities will be chosen by the 20 cities that have the most tweets. Hit the jump to watch the trailer and for more details on the “Tweet to See It First” campaign. Paranormal Activity 3 opens everywhere October 21st.

wpid adventures of tintin movie image slice 01 Spanish Trailer for THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN Reveals New Footage

If you’re a Steven Spielberg fan, December is gonna be a very good month for you. The director is releasing two films merely days away from each other: War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin. Earlier today, we were sent the Spanish trailer for the latter. While this trailer is unintelligible for those who are lacking in the bilingual department, we do get a look at a number of new scenes. I’ll admit the first trailer for the motion-capture film had me a bit skeptical, but I was more than won over by the 3D footage we saw at Comic-Con. The visuals are truly stunning on the big screen, and the best way I can describe it is as an extremely life-like cartoon (if that’s even possible). Spielberg and Co. have captured Herge’s comic beautifully.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost.  The Adventures of Tintin opens in 3D on December 23rd.

Here’s the trailer:

Here’s the official synopsis for The Adventures of Tintin:

Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present “The Adventures of Tintin” directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell (“Billy Elliot,” “Defiance”) as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (“Quantum of Solace,” “Defiance”) as the nefarious Red Rackham.

wpid sleepless night movie image slice 01 French Trailer for Toronto Film Festival Hit Action Film SLEEPLESS NIGHT

One of the biggest successes to come out of the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month is surely the French action film Sleepless Night. The film screened as part of the “Midnight Madness” portion of the festival where Matt caught it and loved it. Warner Bros. is already developing an English-language remake (naturally), but the French trailer for the film is now available and I have to say that it looks pretty great even though I don’t speak French and thus can’t understand a word being said. The pic centers on an undercover cop trying to get back his kidnapped son from a drug-dealing nightclub owner. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

Here’s the trailer (via Twitch):

Here’s the synopsis:

A gunshot shatters the early-morning silence on the streets of Paris as two men in balaclavas intercept a car on a drug run. In the rushed heist that follows, one of the drug carriers in the vehicle is shot. The other escapes, but not before getting a glimpse of one of the men unmasked. The next day, one of the thieves, Vincent (Tomer Sisley of Largo Winch), is addressed as lieutenant in the bathroom at work. This reveal — that the robbers are really cops — is the first of many in Frédéric Jardin’s Sleepless Night, which peels back layers of deceit one by one as the film plunges forward. This is an all-nighter of action: pop some caffeine and run headfirst into Jardin’s gritty world of good cops, bad cops and vicious drug dealers, all flashing under strobe lights and set to a throbbing techno beat.

wpid new years eve slice 2 New Trailer for NEW YEAR’S EVE

A new trailer for Garry Marshall’s star-studded New Year’s Eve has been released. This trailer isn’t much different from the first one in that it’s basically a montage of all the pretty celebrities and their separate stories set to pop music, though this new look does include inappropriate Abigail Breslin flashing. If you enjoyed Marshall’s Valentine’s Day, then you probably don’t need to be sold on the pseudo-sequel, and if the February-centered first film wasn’t your thing then this New Year’s Eve trailer is probably more than a little cringe-worthy. It looks like Seth Meyers may be the only saving grace for the brave boyfriends who are forced to soldier through this one.

The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, and Carla Gugino. New Year’s Eve opens on December 9th. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

Click over to Apple to watch the trailer in HD. We’ll have the embed up here once it’s available.

Here’s the synopsis for New Year’s Eve:

“New Year’s Eve” celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, in the intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.

wpid the human centipede 2 image slice1 First Trailer for THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 (FULL SEQUENCE)

If you didn’t get enough disgusting, surgical, torture-porn from the first sequence of The Human Centipede by writer/director Tom Six, well you’re in for four times the luck! Earlier this month we posted all sorts of The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) goodies: a teaser trailer, a message from Tom Six himself and even a review of the complete film. If that’s really not enough to satisfy your curiosity for the sequel to one of the foulest movies ever made, well then you might be a truly disturbed individual. But since you’re here, we have the full theatrical trailer for the Full Sequence.

While Tom Six freely admits that the first Human Centipede was a “100% medically accurate” fictional tale, the sequel has transcended the fourth wall and gone meta. The villain this time is not a well-meaning surgeon who simply wants to advance medical knowledge, but a mentally-challenged abuse victim who gets his jollies from watching the first film. I’ve already creeped myself out enough just by writing that, so hit the jump to see the trailer.
