wpid tim and eric awsome show great job slice 01 Teaser Trailer for TIM AND ERIC’S BILLION DOLLAR MOVIE

There’s not much of a middle-ground when it comes to Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! It’s unlike anything else on TV, and it can probably best be described as a public access-style sketch comedy show on acid.  When I first saw Tim and Eric, I was won over by its originality and utter insanity.  But over time, I saw it was only one note of utter insanity.  It’s still a note unlike any other you’ll hear played, but it gets to be tiresome after a while.

Case in point: the teaser trailer for Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim’s first feature-length film, Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.  You’ll watch it, you’ll know it’s Tim and Eric, and you’re either on board or you’re not.  Hit the jump to check out the teaser.  The film also stars John C. Reilly, Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, Robert Loggia, Jeff Goldblum, Will Forte, and William Atherton.  Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie hits theaters on March 2, 2012, but will air on VOD beginning January 27th.

wpid shame movie image michael fassbender slice 02 Red Band Trailer for SHAME

Fox Searchlight has debuted an online-only red-band trailer for Steve McQueen‘s Shame.  Like the previous trailers, Fox Searchlight has refused to manufacture a controversy based on the NC-17 rating or pretend there’s a titillating aspect to McQueen’s movie.  I really dig this new trailer, and the way it’s cut together does a subtle job of conveying the sexual addiction of the film’s protagonist, Brandon (Michael Fassbender).  The trailer is interspersed with brief clips from Brandon’s sexual encounters, but I couldn’t spot any nudity (although you can probably find some if you go through frame-by-frame).

Hit the jump for the trailer.  The film also stars Carey Mulligan and James Badge Dale.  Shame opens in limited release this Friday.

Trailer via Facebook.

Here’s the official synopsis for Shame.

Brandon (Michael Fassbender) is a New Yorker who shuns intimacy with women but feeds his desires with a compulsive addiction to sex. When his wayward younger sister (Carey Mulligan) moves into his apartment stirring memories of their shared painful past, Brandon’s insular life spirals out of control.

wpid smash tv show image slice 01 Beautiful Extended Music Video Trailer for NBC’s Musical Series SMASH

Yes that headline is meant to be literal as series star Katharine McPhee belts out a cover of Christina Aguilera’s hit song Beautiful, but honestly, the trailer for Smash is actually quite a solid presentation of a show that looks like it’s going to be much more than Glee for adults. From executive producer Steven Spielberg, the series follows Karen Cartwright (McPhee), a young girl from Iowa with a dream of making it on Broadway. While a veteran of the stage seems like an obvious choice to take the lead role in a new musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, a songwriting team (Debra Messing and Christian Borle) and their tenacious producer (Anjelica Huston) just might see something in Cartwright and kick off a new chapter in all of their lives. wpid alcatraz tv series cast slice Watch a Short New Teaser Trailer for ALCATRAZ

“This is Alcatraz. Things can always get worse.” Frankly, I hope they get a lot better when Alcatraz, the new supernaturally infused drama series from J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production banner, premieres next year. However, from the looks of this trailer, Fox is holding back the mystery of the series for now with a tease that has Sam Neill welcoming viewers to Alcatraz much in the same way Stephen Lang welcomed everyone to Terra Nova earlier this year. With the producers and creator of Lost behind this new venture though, I’m hoping that my stay at Alcatraz will last longer than the few episodes I spent on Terra Nova before boredom set in eventually. Get a taste of the series after the jump to find out if it’s worth tuning in on Monday, January 16th.

wpid alcatraz tv show image sam neill 01 600x399 Watch a Short New Teaser Trailer for ALCATRAZHere’s the gigantic official synopsis for Alcatraz:

From executive producer J.J. Abrams (FRINGE, “Lost,” “Star Trek” and the upcoming “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and “Super 8″) and writer and executive producer Elizabeth Sarnoff (“Lost,” “Deadwood”) comes ALCATRAZ, the chilling new thriller centered on America’s most infamous prison and one-time home to the nation’s most notorious murderers, rapists, kidnappers and thieves.

When San Francisco Police Department DET. REBECCA MADSEN (Sarah Jones, “Sons of Anarchy”) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a shocking suspect: JACK SYLVANE (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, “The Nine”), a former Alcatraz inmate who died decades ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, RAY ARCHER (Robert Forster, “Jackie Brown”), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued, and once the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent EMERSON HAUSER (Sam Neill, “Jurassic Park”) tries to impede her investigation, she’s doggedly committed. Madsen turns to Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast, DR. DIEGO “DOC” SOTO (Jorge Garcia, “Lost”), to piece together the inexplicable sequence of events. The twosome discovers that Sylvane is not only alive, but he’s loose on the streets of San Francisco, leaving bodies in his wake. And strangely, he hasn’t aged a day since he was in Alcatraz, when the prison was ruled by the iron-fisted WARDEN EDWIN JAMES (Jonny Coyne, “Undercovers”) and the merciless ASSOCIATE WARDEN E.B. TILLER (Jason Butler Harner, “The Changeling”).

Madsen and Soto reluctantly team with Agent Hauser and his technician, LUCY BANERJEE (Parminder Nagra, “ER”), to stop Sylvane’s vengeful killing spree. By delving into Alcatraz history, government cover-ups and Rebecca’s own heritage, the team will ultimately discover that Sylvane is only a small part of a much larger, more sinister present-day threat. For while he may be the first, it quickly becomes clear that Sylvane won’t be the last prisoner to reappear from Alcatraz.

Through the course of the investigation, Madsen and Soto will learn that Agent Hauser has known about the prison’s secret history and has been awaiting the prisoners’ return. Soto will witness his life’s work – the history of Alcatraz – come alive. Madsen will be forced to keep her supportive San Francisco cop fiancé, JIMMY DICKENS (Santiago Cabrera, “Heroes”), at arm’s length from the highly classified assignment as she sees everything she thought she knew about her family’s past shattered, all while fighting to keep the country safe from history’s most dangerous criminals.

ALCATRAZ is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series is executive-produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk (FRINGE) and Elizabeth Sarnoff. Steven Lilien (“Kyle XY”) & Bryan Wynbrandt (“Kyle XY”) and Sarnoff wrote the pilot, and Danny Cannon (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “CSI: Miami”) directed and executive-produced the pilot.

wpid timothy olyphant justified slice New Teaser Trailer for Season Three of JUSTIFIED

It’s crazy to think that Walton Goggins and his racist character Boyd Crowder almost bit the dust at the end of the pilot for Justified, but after focus group tests showed the audience absolutely loved the character, he was made to stick around, and has lasted into the series’ third season. Now he’s featured alongside Emmy nominated star Timothy Olyphant with shotguns blazing in this brief teaser for the new season set to premiere in January. There’s not really any new footage from the series itself, but this teaser is still pretty kick-ass. Watch it after the jump.

wpid the woman in black movie image daniel radcliff slice 02 New Trailer for THE WOMAN IN BLACK

CBS Films has released another trailer for the gothic horror film The Woman in Black.  The movie stars Daniel Radcliffe as a young attorney who travels to a remote village in order to settle the affairs of an old estate.  When he arrives, he discovers that the locals are terrified of a vengeful ghost of a scorned woman who supposedly haunts the estate.  Creepy visuals and spooky moments ensue.

I stopped watching this new trailer halfway through because the studio has now released four trailers for the movie and I’m afraid all of the scares and memorable imagery will be spoiled.  I know trying to sell a gothic horror film isn’t easy and Radcliffe is trying to build his appeal beyond Harry Potter, but that doesn’t mean we need to see every little scare the movie has to offer.  If you’re not concerned about spoilers, hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer, Liz White, and Alisa Khazanova.  The Woman in Black opens February 3, 2012.

wpid gameofthrones title In Production Trailer for Season 2 of GAME OF THRONES Shows off New Characters

HBO has premiered an in-production trailer for the second season of Game of Thrones.  The trailer provides a behind-the-scenes look at the filming on season two with co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss talking about the storytelling challenges ahead.  For readers of the books, this will be a must-see trailer since it provides first looks at new characters.  I’m sure fans will debate whether or not the actor they’re seeing matches up with the person they envisioned.  If you’re like me and haven’t read the books, you’ll think “Hey!  Haven’t seen that person before!  I wonder what they’ll be up to.”  But what concerns me more than new characters is what Benioff and Weiss had to say about expanding the world and introducing new characters.  They took season one as a sign that an audience would accept such a large canvas.  However, Game of Thrones took around six episodes to really start cracking.  How long will it take for season two to heat up if we’re back to introductions?

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The new season of Game of Thrones premieres April 2012.

wpid rampart movie image woody harrelson slice 01 First Trailer RAMPART Starring Woody Harrelson

I’ve been hearing about the cop drama Rampart for quite a while now, specifically Woody Harrelson’s performance in the film. The first trailer has now been released, and Harrelson does indeed look to be delivering one hell of a performance. The pic focuses on a Vietnam vet and cop who does his job a bit dirtier than most, unafraid to to blur the lines between right and wrong. Harrelson looks strong here, and I’m assuming the movie as a whole hinges on his character spinning out of control. Much has been said about the actor’s Oscar chances, so if he continues to pick up steam expect to hear a lot more about Rampart in the coming weeks.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Ben Foster, Robin Wright, Anne Heche, Ice Cube, Sigourney Weaver, Cynthia Nixon, Ned Beatty, and Steve Buscemi. Rampart opens November 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for Rampart:

A genre-bending, 1990s Los Angeles police family drama, Rampart explores the dark soul and romantic misadventures of a never- changing LAPD cop (Woody Harrelson) whose past is finally catching up with him in the wake of a department-wide corruption scandal. Along the way, he is forced to confront his disgruntled daughters (Brie Larson, Sammy Boyarsky), his two ex-wives (Anne Heche, Cynthia Nixon), a tenacious Deputy DA (Sigourney Weaver), an investigator on his trail (Ice Cube), a homeless witness to his crimes (Ben Foster), his aging mentor (Ned Beatty) and a mysterious new lover who may or may not be on his side (Robin Wright), as he fights for his own sanity and survival.

wpid amanda seyfried gone slice First Trailer for Thriller GONE Starring Amanda Seyfried

The first trailer for the thriller Gone has been released. The film stars Amanda Seyfried as a young woman who suspects that her missing sister has been abducted by the same serial killer who kidnapped her two years prior. The trailer’s actually not bad, as it sets up the movie almost as a revenge flick with the authorities refusing to believe Seyfried’s story. The young woman decides to set out on her own to track down the killer in order to free her sister. The pic looks like it could be a pretty intense little thriller in the vein of Minority Report.
